1. Swab the end of your IV site cap using aseptic wipe. Allow to dry. Do not pat or blow dry.
2. Attach the first saline flush syringe to the IV site by firmly pushing and twisting. Use * 5 cc saline. Gently, but firmly flush the catheter. Call your home care nurse if you are unable to flush the catheter or it is more difficult than usual.
3. Administer your medication as directed. After the administration is completed, disconnect the medication tubing as directed.
4. Flush the IV catheter with saline as before. Follow with * 5 cc 100 u/ per ml Heparin if instructed to do so.
