Monitoring Your Therapy
The entire QMedRx team is committed to doing everything possible to safely help you have the most positive treatment experience possible. In an effort to avoid the possibility of infection or side effects, the QMedRx team will ask you to monitor any changes you feel during the course of therapy. The QMedRx team will consistently ask how you are feeling and ask you to contact us regarding any changes positive or negative.
Always:
Pay close attention to how you feel during each administration of your medication Are you feeling any different? Are you experiencing any nausea, lightheadedness, burning, or any other unusual sensations?
Medication Side Effects:
The medication information sheet provided to you lists some less common side effects. Please review the information sheet with the nurse or pharmacist and refer to the sheet as needed.
Signs of Infection:
A potential problem related to intravenous access is infection. Each week a home health nurse will visit you to administer your weekly dressing change and to assure health of your venus access site.
To monitor yourself for infection:
Take your temperature daily, and report any changes to your home care nurse or pharmacist
Each time you administer your medication, check your catheter insertion site for redness or swelling
Therapy Specific Monitoring:
Your therapy may require you to monitor for some additional symptoms so we can better care for you. Your nurse will advise you of what to look for.
Your nurse or pharmacist may ask you to monitor your response to the medication. This may mean weighing yourself to watch for weight gain or loss, watching for wound healing or recording pain relief.
